Ahem: BARRY SANDERS?! How can he not make everyone's top five? Payton? OK. The Bus? I can see your point. JR? Hmmmm...I can't quibble there. Marcus Allen? He had his moments. But surely we can knock Earl Campbell off the list to make room for Barry Sanders (at the top, of course)!
Notice Nate that I didn't call it the five "greatest" running backs, but "my favorites." It's the guys I liked the most. Clearly any list of the greatest RB's would begin with the Jim Brown/Walter Payton argument and include Barry Sanders, I just don't dig jumpy little backs who hop around in the backfield and maybe do something spectacular, but way too often just get dropped there. Plus he was a lousy blocker. Just a matter of preference.
:)
Don't mind me: Barry Sanders is just about the only thing we Detroit fans have had to cheer for in a very, very long time, so of course we deify him.
